art’otel Zagreb Wins Green Building Award!
We are proud that art’otel Zagreb is this year's recipient of the Green Building and Sustainable Built Environment Award in the category of Building of the Year – Reconstruction.
This category recognizes building reconstructions and energy renovations completed between January 1, 2023, and July 1, 2024, awarded by the Croatian Green Building Council.
Beyond luxury and comfort, art'otel Zagreb is an example of ecological sustainability. Through innovative approaches and green construction, the hotel underwent a comprehensive energy renovation that included insulation of exterior walls, floors, and roof, replacement of carpentry, and installation of energy-efficient heating and cooling systems. These systems are centrally managed through an automated monitoring and control system (AMCS). Before the reconstruction, the hotel was in energy class E, but it now holds energy class A.
Sustainable materials and the principle of a circular economy are used, with more than 70% of construction waste being recycled. During the renovation, materials with ecological certificates were used. Installed water-saving fixtures and toilet tanks comply with EU taxonomy, meeting the DNSH principles for water savings. Advanced technologies such as GreenPoint, IP telephony, IPTV systems, and green infrastructure are used. The hotel has implemented a "Smart Room" system. Continuous efforts are made to improve procurement and food preparation processes to minimize waste. The use of public transport and bicycles is promoted to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The hotel continues its commitment to innovation and green practices, providing guests with high-quality services with minimal environmental impact. Branded under the art'otel brand, inspired by art and the first such hotel in Croatia, it represents the original and last work of the late Boris Bućan. art'otel Zagreb is a designed "Heritage" hotel with 110 rooms, including 5 suites. It is important to note that the hotel building is the best example of Art Deco architecture in Zagreb and this part of Europe and represents cultural heritage.
